Grupo Carinsa opens the doors of Esencia Carinsa, its innovation space in Barcelona, to the Cluster Digital.

Rosa Porta,

Cluster Digital organizes an exclusive visit for members of the entity, to the innovation space of Grupo Carinsa to learn about its innovation, digitization and technological development strategy.

The members visits Esencia Carinsa, Grupo Carinsa's experiential and innovation space, at the first stop of ITinerari 5.0, the cycle of visits that brings associated companies closer to leading industrial organizations to share experiences, learn about their challenges and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

The activity, held on 20 October, was attended  by Vanesa Martínez Chamorro, CEO of Grupo Carinsa, and Dénia Martínez Chamorro, vice-president of the group, who accompanied the delegation on a tour of the company's trajectory, its business model and the projects that drive its evolution.

Innovation and technology to transform industry

Founded in 1993 by Alberto Martínez, Grupo Carinsa is a Catalan multinational industrial group specialising in the research, development and manufacture of flavours, fragrances and functional ingredients for different industrial sectors. With a presence in 50 countries and nearly 200 professionals, the company has evolved by expanding markets and areas of activity, with innovation as a central element of its strategy.

During the visit, the fifteen participants were able to learn about the company's trajectory and its commitment to research and development, as well as various projects that reflect its ability to explore new ideas and apply them to products and experiences. These include initiatives such as the creation of the Perfum de Barcelona and the Perfum d'Expoquimia.

The company is also in an expansion phase, with four new factories incorporating automation and digitalisation into its production processes. An example of how technological transformation can contribute to the evolution of a family-owned industrial company and its competitiveness.

Proprietary technology to develop new solutions

One of the most outstanding examples of Grupo Carinsa's technological capacity is CARINCAP, its encapsulation technology platform, developed from more than fifteen years of experience in this technology. The platform allows it to work with different encapsulation systems and high value-added polymers, with applications in sectors such as cosmetics, drugstore, bioplastics and regenerative biomedicine. This line of innovation continues to evolve with projects such as SUNCAP, focused on the research of new systems to convey active ingredients and develop advanced cosmetic formulations, with special attention to sustainability.

Digitalisation, artificial intelligence and open innovation

Beyond getting to know the group's facilities and projects, the visit included a working meeting to share challenges, concerns and possible lines of collaboration between the company and the technology and digital companies of the Cluster attending.

Digitization and the implementation of artificial intelligence have played a prominent role in the exchange of experiences, highlighting the potential of cooperation between industrial companies and technology providers to respond to real market needs.

This type of meeting brings together two complementary environments: on the one hand, industrial companies looking for new ways to innovate and optimize their processes; on the other, technology companies that can provide knowledge, digital solutions and new perspectives.

In this sense, Grupo Carinsa has highlighted the importance of being part of different clusters as a way to promote open innovation, share knowledge and turn new ideas into solutions with application in the market.

Talent, sustainability and entrepreneurship at the centre

The conference also provided an opportunity to learn about some of the priorities that define Grupo Carinsa's business culture. These include the development of talent, sustainability and the importance of people.

The company maintains close collaboration with universities and other training agents in the territory, and promotes its own initiatives to contribute to the training of new professionals through the Alberto Martínez Institute.

This commitment to knowledge also extends to support entrepreneurship. As part of its commitment to innovation, Grupo Carinsa has promoted the Entrepreneurship Awards of the Alberto Martínez Ortega Institute, an initiative aimed at supporting startups and innovative projects. In addition to economic recognition, the program offers workspaces and the opportunity to get to know the company's activity up close, favoring the connection between new business initiatives and the industrial environment.

This vision shows that innovation is not only about incorporating technology, but also about developing talent, fostering entrepreneurship and building a growth model that integrates people and sustainability.

ITinerari 5.0: connecting industry and technology

The visit to Esencia Carinsa is part of ITinerari 5.0, the cycle of exclusive visits for members of the Digital Cluster of Catalonia that aims to learn first-hand about how leading companies face their processes of innovation, digitization and industrial transformation.

Through these meetings, the Cluster promotes the exchange of experiences, the identification of shared challenges and the generation of new connections between industrial and technological companies.

From the Cluster Digital, we thank Vanesa Martínez, Denia Martínez and the entire Grupo Carinsa team for their welcome and generosity when it comes to sharing their project, their experience and their vision for the future.
