Clúster Digital de Catalunya took part in the Agrobiotech Innovation Forum 2026, held in Lleida from 27 to 29 October. The event brings together the fields of agriculture, biotechnology and technology to drive innovation and transformation in the agrifood sector.
The trade fair brought together companies, research centres, universities, institutions and other stakeholders from the agrifood ecosystem to share knowledge, showcase innovative solutions and create new collaboration opportunities to address the sector's challenges.
As part of the forum, Clúster Digital participated in the roundtable discussion “Digital Projects by Organisations and Clusters”, sharing experiences and digitalisation initiatives alongside Enric Pedrós from Clúster FEMAC; Simó Alegre Castellví from the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA); and Miguel Ángel Cubero Márquez from FATE (Food & Agri Tech Europe).
During the session, Joan Puaté i Puy, Managing Director of Clúster Digital, highlighted the need to align technological solutions with the actual needs of agrifood companies. Among the main challenges identified, he emphasised interoperability between machinery and software, as well as data management and data ownership.
He also underlined the value of European projects as a means of validating technological solutions, fostering collaboration between different stakeholders and facilitating the market uptake of innovation. In this regard, he referred to the GATE5.0 project (Green and Digital Transitions for a Sustainable European Agrifood Ecosystem), led by Clúster Digital, which aims to accelerate the green and digital transition of the European agrifood ecosystem.
Beyond its participation in the roundtable, the event provided the organisation with an opportunity to establish new contacts and explore potential avenues for cooperation with different stakeholders across the ecosystem.
Through the matchmaking platform promoted by ACCIÓ, the cluster met with Fundació URV to identify potential synergies and opportunities to develop joint projects.
The event also provided an opportunity to meet participants in the DonaIndústria pre-acceleration programme, also led by Clúster Digital, who shared their experiences and feedback on the initiative. In addition, the cluster exchanged views with other ecosystem stakeholders on the potential of EU-funded projects and the opportunities they offer to drive innovation.
The transformation of the sector requires solutions that address the industry's real challenges, but also spaces for networking and collaboration that help accelerate their adoption. In this context, clusters play a key role in fostering connections, projects and new opportunities for innovation.
At Clúster Digital, we highly value our participation in initiatives of this kind, which strengthen our commitment to the digital transformation of the agrifood sector and to building bridges between companies, knowledge centres and technology stakeholders.
